…Aaah, Florida! The Sunshine state. This state actually provides some great benefits for seniors. Florida is actually very popular among retirees since it’s a place with warm weather, various museums, natural beauty, and nice parks. This place is the home of almost six million people who are 60 years of age or older.

Last year, it was ranked as the first state considering its 65+ residents.  How awesome is that? We all want a place with tons of possibilities but also benefits for our retirement. And if the place comes packed with benefits, sunshine, and a lot of activities, it’s even better.

Where are you from? Would you like to move to Florida? Tell us in the comments. We’re eager to meet you!

  1. We are in our late 60s and concerned about the healthcare in Florida. We have not heard good things about it, and I’m disabled. We plan to come back to Philadelphia every 2 mo for care. Sad to have that reputation with an older population. Makes no sense. Can you not attract good Drs? The only hospital I heard that is ok is Moffit for cancer.

  2. My daughter in law keeps telling me to move to Florida and she will help take care of me. I am just about 69 years old and I live in Delaware and I can not stand the cold weather. Every year I have trouble dealing with the cold more and more. I am interested in moving to the west coast part of Florida somewhere close to Tampa.

  3. RIGHT NOW, FLORIDA, AND TEXAS, ARE ABOUT THE ONLY PATRIOTIC STATES TO LIVE IN. AND….FLORIDA WINS OUT WITH THE BETTER OVERALL WEATHER , RTHER THAN TEXAS, (TOO HOT), AND IN SOME PLACES EVEN COLD. SO….WELCOME TO FLORIDA, THE MORE THE MERRIER. AND….THE MORE POLITICAL CLOUT WE WILL HAVE.

  4. HERE IN FLORIDA, WE WELCOME ONLY PATRIOTIC REPUBLICANS/ INDEPENDENTS. ANTI-AMERICAN DEMORATS, SOCIALISTS, NEED NOT APPLY FOR RESIDENCY,!!!!!

  5. The most important reason not to retire to Florida is that the medical facilities and Doctors are awful when compared to those in New York, or elsewhere.

  6. Why would anyone want to move to DeSantistan. A place that believes history ended in 1861. A place where those living the western shore of the Inland Waterway will have ocean front property. A place where the taxes may not go up out insurance rates make owning a home prohibitive. A place that has numerous systems for collecting tolls on the highways. A place where the building inspectors are so corrupt that building collapse after being up for only 30 years. Or do they collapse because of the invading ocean waters?
Remember, Florida is a state that elected a man governor who headed a company that blicked Medicare of billions. Then the state rewarded him by making him a Senator. Obvious seniors in Florida don’t read or care for honest leaders.
Now how much will insurance go up next year when the next storm of the century hits. Global warming deniers and election deniers seem to be at home in Florida.

  7. I would love to move to Florida. I live in New York Long Island, this area absolutely does not care about it’s seniors nor anyone else for that matter. It is the home of the most corrupt politicians in this country, home for high prices, high taxes, home of the criminal where they are more protected than the citizens and the Police are hung out to dry. New York is the worst only second to California. To move to Florida would be a dream come true. I am a retired P.O. from NYPD and grew up in Long Island and I am saying this with all sincerity Florida is a state that respects it’s people and it’s seniors with so many benefits is it any wounder why I would want to move from New York to a great state like Florida.

  8. I’ve lived in Florida my entire life, and wouldn’t even consider moving out of state. We have good healthcare, beautiful weather, and no state taxes. I’m just moving to a smaller town, because of the Tampa congestion.

  9. Just, like Mr. Taylor mention above, the healthcare in Florida concerns me too. I have a lot of family living in Florida, around Tampa, Lakeland, Jacksonville and Miami. I have health issues which i have to see doctors on a continuity basis, currently I live in the DMV area and the healthcare is excellent, but i have to deal with the winters, which I’m tired of even though I’m originally from Massachusetts. As I age the cold is getting on my nerves and i also have seasonal depression which Florida would make it better to deal with but their healthcare if horrible.

  10. I’m 79 and could move in 4D months but wife doesn’t want to leave Central Illinois. Have quite a few HS classmates in Sarasota, Tampa, The Villages & Dundee. Wife is afraid to leave cousins behind and she wouldn’t know anybody except my friends. I’m from Michigan and have had enough snow & cold to last into my next lifetime. On Oxygen 24/7 so I can’t do much in the Winter anyhow.
