4. New Jersey

This is the fourth-happiest US state on our list, and it is also an amazing spot to spend your golden years. It has good weather, the people are nice, and there are also some tax-friendly policies that can benefit any retiree.

Just imagine that after so many years of working, all you want to do is find a place where you can grow old comfortably and where you don’t need to worry about money or healthcare.

Even if New Jersey is an expensive state, you need to know that this state doesn’t tax social security, and the taxes on low-income pensions are extremely low. These tax laws are significantly easing the tax burden and helping individuals with smaller incomes.

If you like to have a busy lifestyle, then New Jersey is an amazing place for you since it is so close to New York and Philadelphia. That means you can easily visit a big city where you can go to a museum or the theater and, after that, drink a nice coffee. And what is great is the fact that you can still enjoy the calm and quiet people are searching for after retirement.

Add a top-notch healthcare system with well-known hospitals such as Hackensack University Medical Center or Morristown Medical Center, and you will get one of the happiest US states.
