Alaska

The majority of residents in Alaska will get an annual payment from the state’s Permanent Fund Dividend program. However, this year, they are also about to get an extra $650 energy relief payment.

The Permanent Fund Dividend surged in 2022, from no less than $1,114 to $3,284 for every eligible recipient. The increase is mostly because of rising oil costs, as the funds are coming from investments that were made from a portion of the state’s oil and mineral revenues.

Recipients who already elected to get their PFD, but also their energy relief payment via direct deposit should expect to get it any minute now. For applicants who want a paper check, distribution already began in the first week of October.

The Colorado payments that you mentioned are not government stimulus payments. They are Tabor refunds, ie a government refund of overpayments that taxpayers had made. The voters in Colorado had passed a law several years ago that the state was not allowed to keep surpluses.
