#3 Try to delay accepting a Social Security check for as long as possible
People celebrate reaching retirement age and getting older in general for a variety of reasons, including the ability to retire and begin collecting social security. And despite it being tempting to start getting those benefits and collecting the social security check at the age of 62, it may not be the best move in the long run.
If you start cashing in earlier, the benefits will be lower than if you wait for the full retirement age. To get the maximum amount, you should try to delay receiving social security benefits as long as possible. If your retirement age is somewhere between 65 and 67, try to hold onto that number as the one when you will ask for and collect the benefits.
Even if you do retire earlier, it’s still better to try to hold out on getting the money early so that you can get a bigger sum later and thus have fewer issues with budgeting when you’re even older.

If you’re use to working and get are social security checks once month it’s hard it not nearly enough to live off but some i make it work I’ve been living on disability for little over 20 years some I make it work you have to remember you buy everything you need for the month i mean everything from food to toilet paper one supply it’s like put a puzzle together with God’s help I survive and retirement and ssdi all that the same thing I wish with this next raise we getting next year be enough where I won’t have to scratch my hair out because I don’t have enough money to survive Lord God help us to live comfortable in our golden years I pray it works out
My insurance is to high for my home it takes almost half of my social security check.
I paid in close to the limit of social security for much of my life. Yes I took social security at 62 but my checks are less than $900 a month as it would not make my house payment. Thank goodness my retirement income is far in excess of that. I can’t imagine living on that alone.
