8. Holiday Island, Arkansas

This Arkansas town, located on an island in the Ozark Mountains, has about 43,000 acres to house 5,000 people. The breathtaking landscapes and visual grandeur, and diverse range of fauna highlight the magnificence of the Ozarks.

Mini-golf, full-fledged 18-hole courses, tennis and basketball courts, a marina, campsite, and a clubhouse are all available here. Aside from the vast range of property costs, ranging from $40,000 to $100,000, retirees may enjoy the lovely mountain environment.

Eureka Springs is only five miles away and has many historical and cultural attractions. Rogers, Bentonville, and Branson are close nearby and provide additional attractions.

Am familiar with the Sandwich, IL area, having lived a few miles away in Oswego for 19 years. Could not retire and stay in IL due to the incredibly high property, school and income taxes which in 2019 made my mortgage payments more that twice what I now pay in TN. Had a nice house with protected Federal Wildland and a small lake behind our 3 bedroom, 2 bath ranch. Great area despite being under Pritzker’s political thumb. But the taxes were a killer.

My name is Eddie Marshall and I have lived in Las Vegas since 1994. I am 50 years of age and I was thinking about relocating to Florida within the next year. I need a comprehensive layout plan of how much I need to sustain my living expenses compared to Florida’s Cost of Living. I was thinking about retiring within the next 5 years. I don’t necessarily need to live in a Retirement Community. What are your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions for my plans? Have a Great Day.

RETIRED IN USA; Knowing places to retire is important, not just for inexpensive housing but also for places which are the least expensive in other areas, such as taxes and food prices.
In future articles, maybe you could suggest places which are the least expensive to live in comfort during one’s final years, without worrying about having to decide where to spend their money.
Thank you in advance for your consideration!
