1. Tulsa, Oklahoma

The key to a happy retirement is to live comfortably, and that includes being able to reach everything you need easily, where the costs aren’t that high and you’re at peace with everything that happens in your life. In some parts of the country, a house may cost below the national median, which is around $407,600; this is the case for Tulsa, Oklahoma, where the median home price is $229,200. In the past few years, this destination has become very popular with seniors simply because it’s awesome and affordable.

Tulsa is a place where you will never be bored because, less than a 15-minute drive from the city center, lies the Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area, where anyone wishing to get some exercise can go hiking or biking. The Philbrook Museum of Art, a historic residence transformed into a museum in 1939, has gained the title of “the most beautiful location in Oklahoma” for those who are interested in the artistic part of the city.

As we previously mentioned, housing is pretty affordable in Tulsa. You can find a 3,349-square-foot home for less than $300,000, and if your budget is pretty tight, you can find a lot of houses in nice neighborhoods for $250,000 or less. And the good news doesn’t end here! Tulsa doesn’t tax Social Security benefits, and if you want a part-time job in retirement, you can apply for Tulsa Remote.
