10 Valuable Skills You Can Learn in a Month or Less

Coding

Many websites, including Codeacademy, allow you to learn to program. You can learn HTML, CSS, PHP, Phyton, Java, etc., quickly. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never coded anything. The easy-to-use and intuitive interface will get you going in no time.

Coding has practically become a basic literacy in the 21st century. The more computer-literate you are, the better you’ll fit in, especially with your grandkids.

Learn a new language

We get it. A month might not be enough time to learn a whole new language. But you CAN learn enough words and phrases to get by if you were to visit a different country. Pimsleur.com, for instance, is an online platform based on the Pimsleur method.

The story behind this is that Dr. Paul Pimsleur, a linguistics professor and researcher at Ohio State University and UCLA, discovered that acquiring a new language as fast as possible is by hearing it used in everyday situations. It sticks in your mind more quickly this way.

The platform promises that if you use it for 30 days, a mere 30 minutes a day, hearing these phrases grouped in themes will help you absorb enough to get chatty in under a month. We love the app’s flashcard functionality and its focus on pronunciation and accent.
