Senior Housing Options No. 4: Moving in with your kids

One of the classic senior housing options is actually really simple, and a lot of people choose it. It is possible that when people get old and want to live with somebody, they move in with their kids.

There is no shame in that, and if your children want to live with you under the same roof, this is amazing. If you are a family person, you can’t say no to something like this. You will never feel alone if you stay with your kids. You will always have someone to talk to, and maybe you even have grandkids. This is something a lot of people wish for.

Keep in mind that living with an adult child is a win-win scenario. One of the biggest advantages you can get is that all of your expenses get cut in half. Additionally, both parties may receive some benefits. While seniors, especially those who are alone, benefit from an active home that will prevent loneliness and the health concerns associated with it, busy parents may find themselves with built-in babysitting.

The secret that makes all of this work is to set clear rules and guidelines right from the start. Be sure that all of you have the same experience with living together, bill sharing, and, most importantly, personal space.
