7. Charitable contributions may be allowed — eventually

One feature still being worked out is the possibility of charitable contributions flowing into these accounts, which could let nonprofits or other third parties help seed savings for qualifying individuals. That option is pending formal IRS guidance, so treat it as a “maybe” rather than a sure thing for now.
