Many states already offer retirement alternatives with fifteen active programs and twenty-five laws passed nationwide.

5. There are already state-sponsored alternatives

The federal program isn’t arriving in a vacuum. More than 25 states have passed laws requiring access to retirement savings plans, and around 15 already sponsor their own state-run programs (often “auto-IRA” arrangements). Depending on where you live, you may have a state option available now, before the federal portal opens.
