Some retirees prefer receiving government payments through the mail instead of using digital banking.

However, financial institutions and government agencies are increasingly promoting secure electronic payment systems.

People Without Bank Accounts

Individuals who are unbanked or underbanked may have limited access to direct deposit options.

In these cases, alternatives like prepaid debit cards for tax refunds may become more widely used.

Taxpayers Who File Paper Returns

Those who still submit paper tax returns are more likely to receive paper checks.

But the IRS continues to encourage electronic filing because it significantly reduces processing delays.
