How the numbers look
Here are some of the fiscal realities:
- In Fiscal Year 2025, the U.S. government collected about $195 billion in customs duties (tariffs).
- Some independent analyses project that tariffs announced by the administration could raise about $2.5 trillion over the period 2026-2035.
- A calculation by the nonpartisan group suggests that if the $2,000 payment were made to Americans earning under $100,000, the cost would be around $300 billion.
- Another analysis noted that although tariffs raise revenue, they also generate economic costs (higher prices for consumers, slower growth), and therefore net fiscal benefit is lower than the gross collections.
So while tariff revenue is non-trivial, the cost of a broad $2,000 payment program could approach or exceed what is available (or at least what can safely be assumed to be available).
How do I qualify?
our government can afford the checks it will not do anything negative to our economy it’s a joke that we have all these people in a position to make choices for all of us when they have no idea; not a single clue what living life is like for us I guarantee if they understood and experienced it they would want them checks just as equally if not more than us, they just need to give those checks to us already especially after it was said that we would get one….

As I see it this is a ploy fake we the people are all hurting with the way things are going nothing what was told to the American people came about and this is another promise being told that won’t happen. We need someone in office to get things done apparently this isn’t .

President DonaldTrump is for the rich and those tariffs only lead to keeping low income families oppressed. The inflation rate is high, cost of living is also, federal funds have been cut or redirected without the knowledge of the public, standard of deductions goes up every year, daycare centers are having problems being funded and the cost of food which was one object that was mostly effected by the tariffs got ridiculously high, ex. A plantain which cost $.33 for 1 is now $1.00 to .50 cents for one. We can not live on promises, President Donald Trump said we would get a stimulus tariff payment so then he should keep his promise- send stimulus tariff checks. People are hurting and banks are hurting us.
I Pray this is Truth and not an empty Promise. I could use the financial help.
