Chuck Negron — February 2, 2026
For anyone who lived through the early 1970s with a transistor radio nearby, Chuck Negron’s voice is permanently stitched into the soundtrack. As one of the three lead singers of Three Dog Night, he helped guide the group to roughly 60 million records sold worldwide. His voice carried “Joy to the World,” “One,” “Easy to Be Hard,” and “An Old Fashioned Love Song” into the homes and cars of an entire generation.
Three Dog Night was one of the most successful American rock bands of their era, and Negron’s soaring tenor was a major reason why. Behind the scenes, he weathered serious personal struggles and later wrote candidly about them, becoming an advocate for others walking the same road. Chuck Negron passed away at the age of 83, leaving behind a catalog of songs that still turn up at family reunions, oldies stations, and karaoke nights across the country.
