Look For efficiency units
Another budget-friendly option to traditional housing for affordable rent for retirees is an efficiency unit. It might sound odd, but the efficiency unit was once a mainstay of the US housing market.
They were often converted motels or hotel rooms with access to a shared kitchen. And apparently, they’re making a huge comeback.
Renting out an efficiency unit, if you can find a vacant one, is significantly more reasonable than apartments in similar areas and is usually available to rent weekly or month-to-month.
Provide good references
It isn’t always easy for landlords to find reliable and trustworthy tenants. So you should try to position yourself as a model tenant by highlighting your excellent credit score, stable income, and spotless reference letters from previous landlords.
They’re also more likely to agree to a rent reduction if you’re a high-quality tenant who wants to resign a lease.
