#5 Final Letters or Burial Instructions

An individual’s executor will search the estate for any papers that specify how the deceased person would have preferred to be buried. A funeral service was desired by the deceased person? Would a memorial ceremony have been their preferred method of remembering them? Do you know if they wanted to be cremated or buried?

When a loved one passes away, executors and families frequently deal with these challenging problems. Many times, before passing away, people give the executor instructions on how they want to be buried. The instructions will specify the person’s preferred mode of interment and how they would like to be remembered.

Executors or other family members can be forced to make decisions without fully understanding the deceased’s wishes if the burial instructions are hidden away in a safe deposit box that no one can access.
