3. Orlando, Florida

Theme parks, conference centers, and resorts in Orlando attract people from all over the world. Winters are warm, there are plenty of things to do, and the cost of living is low, thus retirees flock to the region. However, if you look behind the tourist traps, Orlando is a city in inland Florida dotted with lakes.

Retiring near a lake in Orlando might be surprisingly reasonable. The median cost of owning a property with a mortgage is $1,457 per month, whereas the typical rent is $1,161 per month. In an hour or two, you may easily travel to Florida’s Atlantic or Gulf coasts.

  1. I don’t know where you produced this list, but Florida should not be on it. Prices in this state have skyrocketed.

    1. You are absolutely right, Florida is no longer a good place to retire due to high insurance rates and taxes!

  2. Florida is no longer an inexpensive place to retire! The insurance for both homes and cars is off the hook here and taxes are also riding. Sales tax on everything is 7.5, property tax as well as infrastructure tax call CDD are high.
