SSI recipients typically receive payments on the first day of each month. However, when the first falls on a weekend or federal holiday, payments are sent on the preceding business day.

• Friday, October 30, 2026 – SSI payment for November 2026 (since November 1 is a Sunday)
• Tuesday, December 1, 2026 – SSI payment for December 2026
• Thursday, December 31, 2026 – SSI payment for January 2027

Because January 1, 2027, is New Year’s Day, a federal holiday, the SSA issues January’s SSI payment one day early — and this December 31 check will be the first to include the 2027 COLA increase.

The SSA advises beneficiaries to wait three additional mailing days before contacting the agency if a payment does not arrive on time. Nearly 99% of payments are delivered electronically, making delays relatively rare.
